Holden, the main character of The Catcher In The Rye. He is the narrator of the story who always seems to have a negative opinion on everything, through out the story there are many times where Holden tries to interact with people but he gets shot down. However, Even though Holden is lonely and does not seem to have many friends, he does feel very strongly towards some people for example his sister Pheobe, and his brother Allie who had passed away.

Before he got kicked out he roomed with a guy by the name of Stradlater who he hated and thought of as a prep school stuck up moron. Next to their room he knew a guy names Ackley who had a loud mouth, some bad hygiene, and would never shut his big dumb mouth.

When Holden and Pheobe met at the museum, it was originally for Holden to say goodbye to Pheobe because he was going to go out west. But then Pheobe put a twist on Holden's plans when she showed up with her bags packed and ready to go. Holden was suprised and and was asking her things like, what about school? How will you go to school? But Pheobe didn't care she was determined to go. Holden was getting so angry and was directing his anger towards Pheobe, yelling at her to shut up! What he didn't realize was that his anger was really at himself. He was thinking he was going to mess up Pheobe's life and Holden did not want her to end up like him. So he decided not to go for Pheobe.
