Which two organelles are described in the endosymbiont theory?
mitochondria and chloroplasts
The endosymbiont/endosymbiosis theory states that mitochondria and chloroplasts started out as early prokaryotic cells that were engulfed by larger eukaryotic cells. Over time, they became organelles.
This theory is supported by both organelles having their own DNA and being able to divide independently of the rest of the cell, in a process similar to binary fission.
