False- it is expected that students may encounter technical hurdles, especially if they are a late enrollment. For the first 2 days of class, the status of attendance should simply be "present" or Absent". Always check with the PD if you have questions.
It is required to read the orientation slide show word for word. True, or false?
False- We should be briefly discussing the key points of each slide. You should know what they say without reading them.
A student is not on camera or engaging in the chat very much from the start of 101. Is this a red flag?
No. This is beyond a red flag. We have now painted the town red. Big Yikes. Consistent outreach and notify PD.
When does a student need to have a memory card?
They should aim to have their own memory card no later than week four, as creative paks are typically delivered during week 5.
A student says they will have their computer by Friday. This is sufficient for the time being. True, or False?
False- They need to disclose what computer they've ordered, confirm arrival, and confirm availability to catch up on the Friday. If they cannot do this, their name should be sent with notes to the PD.
For the first three days of class, attendance should be posted ___________________.
Every 15 minutes for the first hour, and every hour on the hour after that.
An IDL student fails to do the ID verification assignment. What should we do?
Some form of: This should be reviewed almost immediately, and any students who are active and have not completed the verification should be followed up with consistently until they complete it.
A student shares their life story with the group, including details that are inappropriate for the class environment. What should we do?
Reach out to the student privately and encourage them to be mindful of what they share, and reference any school policies if necessary. Notate in diamond asap.
Students get a shipping confirmation and tracking number for their creative paks. True, or false?
False- the paks are ordered in bulk from B&H and tracking info will not be distributed individually. However, students who setup a free FedEx account by week 4 will typically get notifications of tracking through fedex.
A student seems to be struggling with basic tasks like navigating teams, cannot "find the class", and may need step-by-step instructions to log into canvas. This student may struggle with ___________?
Computer literacy
A student attends the first or second days of class, but then stops coming to class and is not communicating. What must happen?
The PD needs a list of names of anyone who has stopped attending during the first week through the end of that week.

The meeting should open 1 hr before class, and no later than 45 minutes before class. Instructor is visible 30 minutes before class.
A student forgets that their webcam is on, an is potentially going to turn class into a very expensive embarassment. What should we do?
Remove the student from the meeting. Stop the recording until they are out. Start a new record. Contact them privately and let them know what happened. Support instructor should delete initial recording asap.
We should never allow students to "run the class".

Recommend they start a free trial if available, or download the mobile version of LR to their phone as a temporary solution. Then let the PD know.

Alert the PD immediately for follow up, as an alternate shift of class may be better for them.

False- You should expect people to potentially join within the first few minutes. Orientation should not be started until at least 10 minutes after official class start.
A student is on camera while driving. What should we do.
Publicly address it in a light hearted but direct manner, and ask them and the rest of the class to never be on camera while driving.
Do accomodations need to be approved by the program director?
Yes
A student's computer has 8gb of RAM and an i5 processor. Can they move forward with the program?
Possibly for a time being- this may work with basic lightroom tasks, but will not work for advanced ai features and will not hold up for photoshop. They're name should be given to the PD, and they need to be told verbally and in writing that their computer does not meet minimum specification.
