self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves. In other words are we proud of ourselves, think of ourselves as good most of the time.

Why think of anger as a thermometer or other image?
To be aware of how we are feeling AND how mad we are getting.
Ways to increase self-esteem are?
1. Developing a hobby or skill that you enjoy and are good at
2. Think positively about yourself
3. Don't put yourself down, call yourself "dumb", "stupid"
What are the important parts of handling an argument or disagreement with someone?
1. Remain calm
2. Keep voice at normal volume. No yelling, shouting, or swearing
3. Tell the other person you understand their point of view
4. Offer a solution or COMPROMISE
What are some not-so-good responses to anger?
Hitting something, throwing something, swearing...
Low self-esteem can affect us in what ways?
Sadness, little motivation, anxiety, and afraid to try new or different things
By keeping our calm and volume of our voice normal, this helps not to ESCALATE the situation further (makes it worse)
Disagreements happen between people because each person is thinking about the same thing but in a different way. Effective communication helps with problem-solving and coming up with a compromise, or solution
When we FIRST feel we are becoming angry we should do what steps?
First, STOP!
Second, THINK about choices and consequences.

Is is normal to disagree, even mildly argue with someone else? Why?
Disagreement and not having the same ideas or opinions as others is very common and normal. BUT, it is important to try and understand how the other person is thinking and feeling.
Explain whether anger is a good or bad feeling?
Trick question! Anger is NEITHER a GOOD or BAD feeling. Instead it is just an emotion, or feeling like many others- happy, sad, disappointed, etc.
