How should I walk in the hallway?

Ready - Stay to the right in line with your class

Respectful/Responsible - stop at checkpoints, move directly to your destination, keep the halls clean and clear

When may I go to the bathroom and how long can I be gone?

Before school, after specials when my class goes together, during lunch or recess, during independent work time during class when my teacher isn’t teaching. You have 2 minutes to use the restroom.

Do we get a snack in 5th grade? 

Yes! You can eat a healthy snack right after specials. You need to have your snack in the classroom as you unpack in the morning. Water only in a bottle that doesn’t spill/leak

language arts - reading, phonics, writing

Seated quietly listening, not talking to my friends.

When may I go to my locker each day?

In the morning when I arrive at school, before and after lunch (if I need to get my lunch and/or coat or put my coat away) and at the end of the day.

What materials do I need to have for each day?

10 pocket folder, take home folder, math binder, home connections book, language arts materials - green folder and right to read book, and pencil pouch (pencils, markers, glue, dry erase marker, scissors).

How many units of Lexia do I need to complete each day in school? For a total of how many completed by Friday? What if all units are not finished by Friday?

2 units each day. For a total of 10 units completed by Friday.  Unfinished units will be homework over the weekend,

What do I do when I go to Mrs. S's class?

In the morning: unpack/go to my locker, bring in my materials for the day and snack, pick my card seat number, read the morning slide then begin working on ST Math.

In the afternoon: bring my materials for the day, get my seat number, read the afternoon slide and be ready to begin science or social studies.

How should I behave if there is a fire drill and where do I go?

Quietly line up and exit the classroom then exit to the playground and line up along the fence to the right of the doors.

How many ST Math puzzles do I need to complete each week?

You will be expected to complete 70 puzzles per week. Puzzles are due by Sunday night before you go to bed. Remember if you meet your goal you have the chance to win prizes!

Should my parents clean out my take home folder or any other folders?

No! Your parents are always welcome to see what is in your folders at any time but we ask that they not clean out any of the folders without you doing it with them since you should know what you still need to keep.

What am I allowed to do on my Chromebook?

Assignments assigned by the teacher, school approved apps  when approved by the teacher

What materials am I allowed to take home to share with my parents or use to review for tests?

Anything - my math binder, my home connections book, my ten pocket folder, and any language arts materials. Just make sure anything you take home comes back to school unless you've been told you don't need it at school anymore.

Can I leave anything inside my desk when I switch classes?

The only thing you can leave is your Phonics book in Mrs. K's classroom. You have to take everything else with you when it is time to switch classes. You should even make sure all trash is taken out of your desk.

It’s independent time, you are stuck on an assignment/have a question and Mrs. Kulpa is working with a student(s), how are you to solve your problem?

Ask 3 then see me.  Ask up to 3 peers to help you solve your problem then see Mrs. Kulpa if your problem was not solved.

 Can I put things on Mrs. S’s desk or table?

No! She may not see it or it could get lost. It needs to be put into the basket labeled with my homeroom teacher’s name.
