What is the setting?
This is the beginning of the story where the characters, setting, and basic situation are introduced.
What is exposition?
The wind whispered through the trees.
What is personification?
The main character who faces the central conflict.
Who is the protagonist?
The perspective from which a story is told.
What is point of view?
The main problem or struggle that a character faces
What is the conflict?
This part of the plot contains the events that build the conflict and make the problem more complicated.
What is rising action?
She was as busy as a bee.
What is a simile?
The character or force that opposes the protagonist.
Who is the antagonist?
A narrator who uses words such as I, me, my, and we.
What is first-person point of view?
The sequence of events in a story
What is the plot?
This is the most exciting, intense, or important turning point in the story.
What is climax?
The classroom was a zoo.
What is a metaphor?
A character who changes their personality, beliefs, or behavior throughout the story.
Who is a dynamic character?
A narrator who uses he, she, they, or the characters' names to tell the story.
What is third-person point of view
The lesson or message about life
What is the theme?
These events happen after the climax and show the conflict beginning to be resolved.
What is falling action?
BOOM! CRASH! BANG!
What is onomatopoeia?
A character who remains mostly the same throughout the story.
Who is a static character?
The conversation between two or more characters in a story.
What is a dialogue?
A conflict that happens inside the character's mind
What is internal conflict?
This is the final part of the story where the main conflict is resolved and the story comes to an end.
What is the resolution?
A character says, "Great! Another rainy day. Exactly what I wanted!" even though they clearly dislike the rain.
What is irony?
A character who has only a few simple qualities and is not deeply developed.
Who is a flat character?
A description that appeals to the five senses and helps readers imagine what something looks, sounds, smells, tastes, or feels like.
