Expressionism
Started in 1924 by Andre Brenton. He wanted his art to be confusing. The art was supposed to resemble dreams, thoughts, or communication.
Surrealism
Born in Spain but lived in France most of his life. Painted The Old Guitarist and founded Cubism.
Pablo Picasso
Completed by Michelangelo and was completed between 1508 to 1512. Located in the Sistine Chapel. It's on the ceiling.
Creation of Adam
Kandinsky and Marc loved horses and the color blue so that's what they named the movement. They rejected representational art and did abstraction. Saw abstraction could conceive the natural world better than representational.
The Blue Rider
Named because the founder, Kazimir Malevich, thought it was greater than any representation art. It consisted of simple shapes and limited color.
Russia (1913-1920s)
Supermatism
Started by Marinetti in Italy in 1909. Was inspired by advancement in technology. They wanted to show the glory of machines. Their art was animated, but shattering.
Futurism
One of the two founders of The blue rider. They really like horse and the color blue.
Marc or Kandinsky
It was on the slide show and was painted by Picosso. It's an example of cubism art and was completed in 1937. Located in Museo Reina Sofia.
Guernica
Part of Cubism. Contained flowing, rounded lines.
Curvilinear
Art movement started by Matisse and Derain in France of 1905. Art contains unnatural colors and vivid brush strokes.
Fauvism
Inspired by the Great Depression in the 1930s. Was in favor of realism and raw human emotion. The art showed many injustices in the world.
Depression-era Art
Was a Russian artist that founded Supermatism. He crested the painting The Black Square and Red Square.
Kazimir Malevich
Painted by da Vinci and it is an image of a feast. Located in the Santa Maria Delle Grazie.
The Last Supper
Picasso was the main founder of this art that could be viewed from many angles. It was originally influenced from the simple geometric pattern of African masks.
Cubism
Part of Cubism and had sharp edges.
Analytic
Giorigio de Chirico Founded this movement. He wanted to induce anxiety on viewers by images that were representation, but out of place.

Ernst Kirchner
Completed in 1893 by Edward Munch and looks like a person is screaming. Displayed in the National Museum of Oslo. It was stolen in 1994 but was back 3 months later.
The Scream
Hugo ball founded this anti-art movement in 1916 in Switzerland. It was a reaction to WWI and rejected Social norms. It was an abstract art movement. Marcel Duchamp was one of the most well known artists of this movement.
Dada
PArt of Cubism and had normal objects and flat forms.
Synthetic
Created by Mondrian and Doesburg. Paintings were abstract with no reference to nature. Artists can only use perpendicular lines, black and the three primary colors, can’t put modulation into the art.
De Stigl
Was not the founder of the Dada anti-art movement, but was one of the most well known dadaists. He created the artwork Large Glass.
Marcel Duchamp
Completed in 1665 and is located in Mauritshuis. Named after a physical appearance. Completed by Johannes Vermeer.
