The method used to solve or complete experiments; step-by-step-directions
What is Procedure?
The sphere including the ground (rocks, minerals, soil) and the layers of the Earth (core, mantle, crust)
What is Geosphere?
A hole formed when land collapses due to erosion underground (often limestone) - these are common in central Florida.
What is sinkhole?
The type of forces in which the objects do not touch; Gravitational, Magnetic, Electrical.
What is noncontact forces?
The "brain" of a cell that holds DNA and controls the cell.
What is Nucleus?
A scientific test or procedure that is carried out under controlled conditions to answer a scientific question
What is Experiment?
The sphere of "life" ; extends from the sky deep into the ocean.
What is Biosphere?
The edges of land where it meets the ocean.
What is Coastline?
The scientific law that states that energy cannot be made from nothing, it can only be transformed from one form to another.
What is The Law of Conservation of Energy?
The name of the process of balance that cells must maintain in order to stay alive, including getting energy, removing waste, and reproducing.
What is homeostasis?
An explanation for some naturally occurring event developed from extensive observations, experimentation, and reasoning
What is Theory?
The layer of Earth's Atmosphere where the ozone absorbs UV radiation, and jets & planes can fly here.
What is Stratosphere?
The difference in elevation between the highest and lowest parts of an area
What is relief?
The type of motion being shown with a straight diagonal line that is moving upward.
What is a constant speed away from the starting position?
ONE of the three rules of Cell Theory.
What is...
All living things are made of cells,
Cells are the basic building blocks of life,
New cells only come from older cells.
Variable that is changed; the "cause" of the experiment
What is Independent Variable?
The two spheres that are interacting when waves collect oxygen from the air and cause it to dissolve into the ocean.
What are Atmosphere and Hydrosphere?
Landforms created by sediment dropped where a river meets a larger body of water.
The type of line on a motion graph showing that an object is not moving.
What is a straight horizontal line?
The two structures that are present in plant cells, but not animal cells.
What are chloroplasts and cell wall?
A group in a scientific experiment that serves as a reference for comparison to the experimental group; a group that is untreated by the factor being tested
What is Control?
The layer of the the Atmosphere where humans, plants, and animals live. Weather occurs here as well.
What is Troposphere?
Physical breaking down of rocks by nature. (wind, water, etc.)
What is Mechanical Weathering?
The contact force being used to stop a car through the rubbing of the brakes on the tires, and the tires on the road.
What is friction?
The "gatekeeper" of the cell that controls what comes in and out.
What is cell membrane?
