Wilson requested a declaration of war against Germany, citing that Germany had unrestricted submarine warfare that wrongfully sunk civilian US ships.

What was Little Rock Arkansas?

A case that ruled racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. Following a incident where African American parents filed a law suit against the local Board of Education arguing that their children were forced to attend segregated black schools further from their homes, even though there were white schools closer. 


Nine African American students, called the Little Rock nine, attempted to integrate central high school in Little Rock, Arkansas following Brown v Board Education rule. Police, and eventually National Guard soldiers had to protect the nine students from riots of White Americans. White Americans were protesting and rioting against the nine students for attending central high school as African Americans.

NATO was formed in 1949 to prevent Soviet expansion and protect other countries from the Soviet Union. Countries could join NATO to protect themselves from being attack or communism. 

Warsaw Pact was formed in 1955 to counterpart NATO, binding Eastern countries together and spread communism.

2. Gives you the right to remain silent and an attorney when arrested. Anything you say will be used against you in court. 

3. Dred Scott sued for his freedom in 1846 arguing that he was free because he escaped to the free state Wisconsin. Congress ruled enslaved African Americans have no rights and slaves are property. Even if you escape and are caught, you will be sent back to your owner as a slave.

4. Gore and Bush did not have enough electoral votes. Votes were extremely close, but Bush had a little more than Gore so he won. Gore requested a second recount. 29,000 ballots were incorrect. The case was dissmissed though, and Bush still won presidency.

what was cuban missile crisis?

Space race was a competition between the US and Soviet Union to enter space first and gain superiority over space technology. 

Nuclear arms race was competition between the Soviet Union and US to have more advanced nuclear weapons. Both countries sought to protect one another from a nuclear war, preparing nuclear weapons to win said war if it broke out. We nearly came to a nuclear war during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. 

The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day confrontation in October 1962 between the US and the Soviet Union over Soviet nuclear missiles deployed in Cuba. Ending with a diplomatic agreement to removes the missiles one exchange for U.S. security guarantees.
