What is TRUE!
Dojo is a password protected site that parents of our students have joined and given their permission for communication to be shared. The school shares both school wide communication and 1:1 communication directly with individual parents so pictures and videos can be shared accordingly.
Parents have signed a release giving permission for the website administrator to share pics and videos on the school wide website and yearbook.

These are sometimes the easiest, best, "medicine" we are allowed to provide our students...
What are hugs, ice packs, bandaids, and peppermints. They are all cheap and easy distractants from the initial "injury" or sickness that brought the student to you in the first place. A lot of the time the student is extremely tired and has a LONG day and they are more ready to go home than anything. If we can get them through the acute not feeling good phase and give them that little bit of love they need they tend to hang on and make that little bit extra until their parent can get them picked up.
*This is of course in a child not running fever and that does not have a serious injury*

Students should never have individual access to your private cell phone and when using it around students for official school purposes you should do your best to shield the screen and keep the information on it as private as possible.
This is done daily at the end of the Aftercare shift (usually when there are 3-4 students remaining)
What is cleaning of the room?
At the end of the Aftercare shift, teachers are encouraged to require the last 3-4 students to pick up books and paper off the floor before students are picked up for the evening. Desk surfaces need to be wiped down with Clorox wipes, floors need to be swept, and trash needs to be removed daily. Faculty/ Staff must keep your classroom neat and orderly.
This must be neat and professional at all times; meaning no wild rainbow colors, no extreme cuts/styles that are distracting, etc.

What is TRUE.
It is recognized that sometimes you wake up running fever, or with contagious symptoms. In that case, please CALL and let the Aftercare director know as soon as possible so alternate arrangements can be made for your position. A doctor's excuse may be requested for your absence.
This item must travel with you/your class at all times, everywhere you go. It contains a red folder that has emergency information for all students in your class (allergies, medical diagnoses, if they take medication at school for any illnesses, etc).

The red bag also contains the red/yellow/green cards needed for evacuations/drills. It is ESSENTIAL that you keep your walkie talkie and red bag close to you and accessible AT ALL TIMES.

What is YES!!
Two Adult Rule- A minimum of two unrelated adult workers should be present at all times when youth are being supervised during programs and activities. When only one adult is present, doors to the room should remain open.
No adult should be alone with a child or vulnerable adult in any sponsored activity unless in a counseling situation.
Look out for your coworkers! It is for your protection and safety as much as for the protect and safety of our kids. Always make sure we have two adults present.
