What is the difference between a unicellular and multicellular organism?
Unicellular have only one cell.
Which cell part controls what enters and leaves?
Cell Membrane
What is diffusion?
The movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
What forms when similar cells group together?
Tissues
Which system brings oxygen into the body?
The respiratory system.
Is an amoeba a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Unicellular
Which organelle contains DNA and directs cell activities?
Nucleus
What is osmosis
The movement of WATER from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Put these in order, from smallest to largest: organs, cells, systems, tissues.

What was Ozzie in the movie Osmosis Jones? What was his job?
White blood cell-fight off infection
Is a human a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Multicellular
Name two structures found in both plant and animal cells.
Any two: cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria.
What does “semi-permeable” mean?
It allows some things to pass through but not others, like a strainer.
What is a group of organs working together called?
Organ System
What is homeostasis?
Keeping our body at a stable condition
Are specialized cells in unicellular or multicellular organisms?
Multicellular
What two organelles does a plant cell have but an animal cell does not?
Chloroplast and Cell Wall
Food coloring spreads through water. What process does this show, and which way do particles move?
Diffusion; particles move from high concentration to low concentration.
Stomach muscle cells form muscle tissue. What level of organization comes next?
Organ or Stomach
Which system removes wastes through the kidneys, bladder, and urethra?
Excretory System
What is an advantage of having specialized cells?
Answers may vary
Why do plant cells have two organelles that animal cells don't have?
Plants need to make food sunlight and need the cell wall because they don't have bones.
A plant wilts in dry soil. Use osmosis to explain what happens to water in its cells.
Water moves out of the plant cells toward the drier soil through osmosis. The cells lose water, so the plant wilts.
Give the levels of organization from cell to organ system, and explain how they connect.
Cells form tissues; tissues work together in organs; organs work together in organ systems.
Describe how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to supply muscles with oxygen
The respiratory system brings oxygen into the lungs. The circulatory system carries oxygen in the blood to the muscles.
