What happened to Suzy’s first restaurant and why does she say it was one of the best things that could’ve happened?
The first restaurant was a failure, but she doesn’t feel she ready for it. The sense of failure, exhaustion, and feeling overworked made her question life goals & reignited her passion for cooking- needed to be a family for families, make everyone feel like they’re at home.

What memory does Trellis retrieve first? What does he learn?
He sees his father & Uncle Virgil. His father is very controlling and doesn’t want him learning about the history of Alledia. Uncle Virgil shows him the spaceships coming with hundreds of thousands Shadows (aliens) and that they’ve already taken over his father & the guards.

There are 3 portals: blue, orange, and purple. Trellis wants to return through the orange one they came through. But Emily sees her father’s image in the blue one and insists on going through it.
What does the Voice tell Emily her purpose is?
She is to remove all the inhabitants of Alledia herself, including her friends & family.
What does Emily see when she goes through the other (2nd) portal? How does the trauma affect her?
Emily sees the events leading up to her family’s car accident: the cause, the accident, trying to save her father (again), and his death. The grief is too much for her, the stone takes over, and she transforms.
