Central idea= what the text is about
Theme= what the text teaches
What does the word infer or inference mean?
Make an educated guess based on the information available.
Why does an author write a text?
To inform, persuade, or entertain

How is reading nonfiction different when tracking events or ideas?
You follow main ideas, headings, and structure (like cause/effect or problem/solution)
Remember a nonfiction text is about real people and real events.
