Anything that takes up space and has mass
What is matter?
No matter how small a substance became, it can still be divided, what theory is this?
Where a metals located in the periodic table?
To the left side of the periodic table.
A molecule contains a total of 21 atoms. If the formula is C4HXO13. What is the value of x? Explain why
Because they make up everything!!!!
;)
Any substance that cannot be decomposed into less massive substances.
What is element?
Who is the author of the discontinuous theory of matter?
Democritus
Where are non metals located in the periodic table?
To the right side of the jagged line in the periodic table.
5 atoms
What happened to the chemist who was reading a book about helium?
He could not put it down :)
What is the difference between a compound and a molecule
Compounds are substances that can be decomposed into elements by chemical means. Molecules are the building blocks of compounds ( groups formed when atoms join together to form compounds).
State in your own words the Law of Mass Conservation? Who is the author?
Matter cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change forms. Antoine Lavoisier.
Give the characteristics of metal elements.
malleable, have luster, and are able to conduct electricity
Name the following compounds and mention their names.
CaCl2 Al2O3 MgS NCl2
Calcium Chloride
Aluminium Oxide
Magnesium Sulfide
Nitrogen Dichloride

What is the difference between a chemical symbol and a chemical formula?
Chemical Symbols are abbreviation for atoms (one or two letters in the periodic table). Chemical formulas tells us how many of each atom makes up the molecule you are observing, reading, using, etc.
State the Law of Definite Proportions in your own words. Give an example.
The proportion of elements in any compound is always the same. Example ????
Give characteristics or non metals and how are they different from the metalloids?
Non metals are brittle, lack luster and do not conduct electricity. Metalloids have some metal properties and some non metal properties
2Write the chemical formulas for the following compounds
Dicarbon Hexaflouride Oxygen Dichloride
Sulfur Dioxide Sodium Bromide
Dinitrogen Tetrahydride
C2F6 SO2 N2H4
OCl2 NaBr

What is the difference between an ionic compound and a covalent compound? Give examples of each and explain how you can test which compounds are ionic or covalent?
Ionic compounds are M+NM, covalents are NM+NM. If dissolved in water, ionic conduct electricity and covalent don't. Examples...
This law states that when you have two elements that form different compounds. Their combination will be a simple whole number ratio (first fixed, second changes)
CO. ( 12 g + 16 grams) 32.0: 16.0. or 2:1
CO2 (12 g + 32 grams)
Has the existence of atoms been proven? Yes, No, explain why.
Atoms' existence has not been proven. We can understand many of the facts we know by assuming that atoms exists so we take their existence on faith.
Name the following compounds and classify them in ionic or covalent.
SrI BaS NI3 Al2S3
Strontium Iodide Ionic
Barium Sulfide Ionic
Nitrogen Triiodide Covalent
Aluminium Sulfide Ionic
