What is the cornea?

Who is the ASC Manager?
An intraocular lens implant with the capability to treat astigmatism from within the eye.
What is a Toric lens?
Protein clumps that stick to the natural human lens, making vision appear cloudy, discolored, and hazy.
What is a cataract?
Adverse drug reactions, break in sterile technique, equipment/instrument malfunction, near misses, and wrong site/side/procedure are all example of this event, which occurs outside of the surgical plan.
What is a surgical variance?
Not just a catchy slogan, this core value actually does make the dream work!
What is Teamwork?
I work in the front office of the ASC, and my duties include checking patients in, answering phones, and surgical chart prep.
Who is the PSR (Patient Services Representative) / Surgery Coordinator?
A laser used in refractive cataract surgery; it is able to replace a few of the most critical steps including the primary incisions, creating the capsulorhexis, and making laser-induced limbal relaxing incisions (LRIs)
What is the Femto laser?
This can be present in one or both parts of the eye - the cornea and/or the natural human lens. It causes distorted vision, and a common sign of this is squinting and blurry vision at all distances.
What is astigmatism?
A less formal way of expressing unhappiness or dissatisfaction with something, which does not require investigation and can be resolved on the spot.
What is a complaint?
I'm the core value that is known for fostering a culture of growth and development, both for the organization and each individual team member.
What is Continuous Improvement?
Patients are sometimes scared of me, but all I really want is just a little of their blood!
Who is the Nurse or RN?
This system takes an additional 40 refractions of the eye after the cataract has been removed in order to give the most precise lens power recommendation. It's also very helpful for placing Toric IOLs, and in cases of dense cataracts, too!
What is ORA?
This is a thin layer of tissue located at the back of the eyeball. It acts as a translator, converting light that enters the eye into electrical signals. These signals travel through the optic nerve to the brain, creating the images we see.
What is the retina?
Corneal edema, Endophthalmitis, corneal abrasion, retained lens material, hemorrhage, and wound dehiscence are all examples of this type of complication, which is a direct result of the surgical procedure.
What is a surgical complication?
This isn't just something we strive to give our patients; our team members and providers deserve this type of experience as well!

Who is the Nurse Anesthetist or Anesthiologist?
This lens implant, known as an EDOF lens, provides patients with an extended range of vision including near, intermediate and distance. It has significantly reduced chances of glare and halos. Reading glasses are usually needed to enhance the size of small font.
What is a Vivity lens?
This progressive eye disease is known as the silent thief of vision, because it's not usually detected until vision loss has progressed considerably. Vision cannot be restored; the struggle is to preserve it.
What is glaucoma?
The most commonly reported formal complaints pertain to surgical outcome, quality of care, and Provider/staff rapport. These situations require investigation and addressing patient concerns.
What is a grievance?
When done right and often, this core value makes people feel accomplished and proud to have given their 100%
What is Hard Work?
Sterilization should be my middle name! My role is of crucial importance to ensure sterile technique is maintained properly, including working alongside the surgeon as well as sterilizing instruments, gowning and gloving myself and others, and more.
