Scientists come up with an idea, test it, collect evidence, and use the evidence to decide whether the idea is supported.

The treatment you're testing to see if it has an effect.

Describes a consistent pattern in nature.

Something you do to the experimental subjects as part of the experiment.
What is falsifiable?
There must be a possible observation that could show your hypothesis is wrong.

A testable explanation for something you observe.
What does dependent mean?
Depends what you change
What is a fact?
Something supported by reliable evidence/observation.
What is replicable?
Other scientists should be able to repeat the experiment and get similar results.
What is homeostasis?
Keeping your internal environment relatively stable even when the outside environment changes.
Whats a prediction?
What you think will happen if your hypothesis is correct.
Whats a controlled variable?
Everything you keep the same so that your experiment is fair.
What is a hypothesis?
A testable proposed explanation.
What is strength of a scientific conclusion?
The more carefully controlled, repeatable, well-designed, and evidence-supported an experiment is, the stronger the conclusion.
Whats an experiment?
A controlled test used to see whether your hypothesis is supported.
What is the control group?
The group you compare the experimental group to. It doesn't receive the experimental treatment.
What is a theory?
A broad scientific explanation supported by a large amount of evidence.
