Is joining the new BofA Rewards enough to qualify for the monthly maintenance fee waiver?

No. Joining BofA Rewards qualifies the client for the Member tier; however, the Member tier does not waive the monthly maintenance fee. To avoid the MMF, account owners must join BofA Rewards and qualify for the Preferred Plus, Preferred Honors or Premier tier or meet one of the Product specific qualifiers.
