Name one thing that you should feel free to do with co-workers.
Enjoy the company of your co-workers
-Be friendly and welcoming toward them
-Play, laugh and have fun with them
-Share about things you like and have in common with them
-Have lunch with them at work
-Suggest events and outings that bring the staff group closer
Question and make suggestions about the way others (including supervisors, specialists, and director) run their group or other areas of the program, as long as you do it respectfully and sensitively.
Respectfully confront co-workers and others in the program when you think they are doing something that is not in the best interest of the children, the teens, other staff, themselves, or the program in general.
Take responsibility to initiate conversations with other staff members on behalf of children or teens when you have information that could help that staff member deal with them in a productive manner.
Name one tip for a one on one intervention
Confide in a co-worker about a situation in which you are upset with your supervisor when you know they will collude and not help you get distance or objectivity to deal with it.
Start a personal relationship (friendship or romantic) with your assistant or supervisor right away when you start working together.
Revive an old friendship or romantic relationship with someone who just started working in your group (as assistant or supervisor)
Start a close friendship or romantic relationship with a counselor or a CIT in the program.
Put an existing personal relationship ahead of the interest of the group, program, or of that person’s professional growth.
Examples:
-To give the person some” slack” because they’re your friend, family member, or girl friend/boy friend. Let them get away with things that you wouldn’t let others get away with.
-Not to confront someone who is your friend, when you would do it with someone else in the same situation.
-Give the person preferential treatment. Choose them for tasks they are not ready for because they want them, or choose them more often than others for things they want to do.
-Support the person’s side in a conflict with someone else in the group because they’re your friend, family, etc, and not because you think their position makes sense.

Explain the rules to name basket turn over
One person (preferably a staff member) stands in the center of the circle. There should be NO chair available for the person in the middle to sit in. The person in the middle will then call 3-5 names of those who are sitting in the circle. After the person in the middle calles 3-5 names, they will then say TURNOVER (Ex: the person in the middle could say “Henry, Fatima, Joshua, TURNOVER”). After TURNOVER is called, those whose names were called will then have to get up and find a different seat in the circle that wasn’t the one they were originally seated in. Eventually there will be one person remaining inside of the circle. That person will then repeat the process. (Tip: try to get the person in the middle to call on the student that hasn’t been called on yet.) Finally, after the game is played for a couple of rounds, the command TORNADO can be used at any time. This command forces everyone to get up out of their seat and find a new seat.
