How do we use Math Manipulatives?

Students will use manipulatives as a way to help solve the problem.
Students will use them as tools not toys.
Students will focus on not touching the tools when they are not in.
What do we do at the end of the day?

At 2:40 the Clean up crew will ring the bell. Clean up crew wipes desks, and vacuum. That is a signal that it is time to end what we are doing, and then we will start cleaning up. Everyone is expected to pick up 10 pieces to show me or another para.
What do we do during Math discussion?

Students will listen to the teacher at volume 0.
The teacher will explain what the goal of the lesson is.
The students will turn and talk. The students will also raise their hands to share.
What do we do at the beginning of the day?

Stand in line and repeat the three instructions to Ms. Zanga, and go do the three things.
Check the whiteboard.
Find a spot to eat, clean up after yourself, and start a reading or math activity quietly.
How do we behave in Math Groups?

Students will listen to the teacher explain the rules.
Students will watch the teacher do an example round.
Students will move to game group spots when dismissed.
Students will listen for timers when to switch stations.

When the teacher is talking you do not get out of your seat.
When the teacher is talking you sit quietly.
When a teacher dismisses a student to work, students are allowed to get up and sharpen pencils, drink water, and ask to use the bathroom.
Students are allowed to get out of their seats when the teacher is no longer talking, and students are working during work time.
What is a procedure for reading tools?

Students will take out their reading folder, Mybook, and pencil.
If a student needs a pencil they may grab one or go sharpen one.
When students have all the tools they sit quietly and wait for instructions.
What do we do during Math warm up?
What is
Students will practice mental math without writing.
Students will turn and talk to partners.
Students will face forward and stop talking when the timer goes up.
What do we do when we come into the class late?
What is
If you are late, enter the classroom quietly, and hang your backpack up and enter quietly.
After you put your backpack up in the class you can check the back table for food.
If you eat breakfast clean up after yourself, make sure the area is clean.
What do we do in the Reading/Writing Area?
What is
Students will be assigned a spot at the group table, and students will grab their items and take a seat.
Students will make sure they grab their notebook/folder from the right bin.
Students will make sure to work at volume 1 or 2 with Ms. Zanga or in a small group.
