What is the difference between Syncope and Anaphylaxis and the treatment of each?
Syncope- sudden onset, drop in BP and HR, pale and clammy skin, diaphoresis. Treatment: place client in supine position and elevate legs, encourage deep breathing, juice.
Anaphylaxis- onset 5-30 minutes, drop in BP, vasodilation - elevation in HR, bronchoconstriction - difficulty breathing, sensation of impending doom, “swollen tongue” Treatment: administer Epinephrine and oxygen.
