What is O2?

O2:  Options and Opportunities provides a comprehensive educational program that bridges high school to post-secondary education, work and /or youth apprenticeships for each student.  The program is helps students make connections between what they are learning in school and post-secondary programs and/or work.  High school students who participate in the program get experience in a career academy and increased opportunities for community-based learning such as cooperative education credits.

Can you receive additional credits for completing a course you have already completed?

No- Only one credit will be given for a course in the same subject at the same grade level, although both will show on the student transcript.  For example, if a student completes English Communications 12 and English 12, it will only count as one credit toward the 18 credits required for graduation.

Why might a student choose skilled trades?

a number of positive outcomes.  The skilled trades span many differing skillsets, so work choices are many.  Quality of life increases as good-paying jobs result in higher earning capacity.  There is the respect that comes from productive work and the professionalism that is required of skilled trades people.
