Basic concepts
A unified statutory act that defines which acts constitute offenses and establishes penalties for them
Criminal Code
The person who personally committed the crime
Executor
A person's awareness of the danger of their actions and the desire for (or conscious acceptance of) the occurrence of harmful consequences
Intent
The state of a person who, due to a mental disorder, was unable to comprehend their actions
Insanity
A measure of state coercion imposed by a court on a guilty person
Punishment
A socially dangerous act for which the law prescribes a penalty of deprivation of liberty.
Crime
The person who directed the preparation or commission of the crime
Organizer
Adapting means or instruments, conspiracy, or otherwise intentionally creating conditions for the commission of a crime
Preparation for a crime
Exemption from punishment for a large group of persons, enacted by the country's Parliament
Amnesty
Forced seizure of property obtained through criminal means for the benefit of the state
Confiscation of property
A monetary sanction imposed by the court for committing an offense
Fine
Someone who assisted a criminal by providing advice, information or the tools used to commit the crime
Accessory / Aider
An act directly aimed at the commission of a crime, if it was not brought to completion due to circumstances beyond the perpetrator's control
Attempt to commit a crime
Defending oneself or others against an attack, resulting in harm to the attacker
Necessary defense
Unpaid socially useful labor performed by a convicted person during off-duty hours
Community service
A person's mental attitude toward their act and its consequences
Guilt
A participant in the joint intentional commission of an offense by two or more persons
Accomplice
A person's cessation of preparations or actions aimed at committing an offense, while aware of the possibility of carrying it through to completion
Voluntary renunciation of a crime
Infliction of harm out of necessity to avert an even greater threat, where that threat could not be eliminated by other means
Extreme necessity
An act of the President whereby a specific convicted person may be released from punishment, or their punishment reduced or commuted to a more lenient one
Clemency
Commission of a less dangerous act for which a sentence of imprisonment is not imposed
Criminal misdemeanor
A person who persuaded, bribed, or forced (through threats) another person to commit a crime
Instigator
The commission of a serious crime by a person who has previously been sentenced to deprivation of liberty for the commission of a serious crime
Criminal recidivism
Causing harm under the influence of force or threats, when the person was unable to control their actions
Physical or mental coercion
Forced removal from the Republic of Kazakhstan applied to foreigners or stateless persons
