Can you friend a participant on social media?
No! It is not considered appropriate to connect with participants or ask them to follow you.
What channel should your radio be kept on?
Channel 3!
Please keep your radio charged and ready to go. Always have it on you during programs (go-getters through evening program), as well as on support and prep days. Instructors may turn off their radios at night unless otherwise instructed by the Program Coordinator.
What is the payroll system used by the AYF?

Can you go swimming at the waterfront on an off day?
Yes, only if a certified lifeguard is with you.
How many "flex days" do you get for the season, and what are they meant for?
Two flex days - for sick time or a special event
If a staff member is sick, they must communicate with the Director and/or Program Coordinator as soon as possible about their needs. If a staff member takes a sick day and does not have any days remaining it will be deducted from weekly pay. Staff members on support may be asked to facilitate without advanced notice if another staff member is sick. Every effort will be made on the part of the Program Director to approve days off for special circumstances (e.g., weddings). Please communicate your needs as early as possible. Days off cannot be guaranteed if not requested early.
Is it okay to hug a participant?
If they are comfortable with it, yes. Consider other gestures like a pat on the shoulder or back.
What is the max speed limit inside Merrowvista grounds?
10 miles per hour
Participants should never be transported in personal vehicles. Please avoid driving during program times unless absolutely necessary, and keep your car parked in a designated lot.
What are the four folds of the AYF?
Social, mental, physical, reverential
True or false: Merrowvista is a nut-free facility, so we do not need to worry about participants with peanut/treenut allergies.
False. Merrowvista is nut-aware, but there are snacks that may contain traces of nuts. We always need to read labels.
What must you wear on the first day or each program?
CSP blue polo shirt and nametag
Do not wear clothing with violent, hateful, or degrading slogans/pictures, torn or tattered clothing, or bare feed. Do not wear AYF clothing while engaging in activities contrary to the mission (out drinking in the town).
Are you a mandated reporter?
Yes! Never promise to keep a secret and make yourself aware of what to do if a participant discloses abuse.
