Pulse Sequences
The technique of using multiple applications of the phase-encoding gradient to encode multiple lines of k-space in a TR. Also called RARE.
What is turbo spin echo?
The flow at the center of the lumen of the vessel is faster than at the vessel wall where resistance slows down the flow.
What is Laminar flow?
A single-shot or multi-shot acquisition that fills k-space with data from gradient-echoes.
What is Echo Planar Imaging?
System responsible for management of imaging orders, scheduling, and billing, and serves as a method of patient management and tracking, as well as reporting.
What is the Radiology Information System (RIS)?
A method that uses multiple energizations of phase and frequency-encoding gradients immediately after the RF excitation pulse. Filling begins at the center of k-space and spirals outward.
What is Spiral filling?
A pulse sequence that suppresses signal from CSF.
What is a FLAIR Sequence?
The rate of flow causes flowing nuclei to receive only one RF pulse (excitation or rephase, but not both) and therefore produce no signal.
What is Time-of-Flight?
A technique that produces images whose contrast is due to the differences in ADC between tissues.
What is Diffusion-Weighted Imaging?
A network group of computers, servers, and archives to manage digital images. Storage is mainly cloud-based due to the sheer amount of storage that medical imaging modalities require.
What is PACS?
States that a frequency must be sampled at least twice to reproduce it reliably.
What is the Nyquist Theorem?
A pulse sequence that spoils the residual transverse magnetization so FID contributes most to image contrast.
What is incoherent transverse magnetization?
A technique that generates vascular contrast using the phase difference between stationary and flowing spins.
What is Phase Contrast?
A technique that uses differences in magnetic susceptibility between tissues to generate image contrast.
What is Susceptibility weighting?
Establishes standards to ensure the healthcare industry is focused on the need to protect health information from inappropriate access or use.
What is HIPAA ?
This is used to compute Fast Fourier Transform to create the most accurate preservation of resolution.
What are floating-point numbers (flop)?
GRE pulse sequence characterized by a rewinder gradient that repositions the stimulated echo so that it is read by the system.Creates true T2 contrast.
What is a Reverse-Echo Gradient Echo?
A paramagnetic agent with a large magnetic moment. It decreases the T1 recovery times of nearby hydrogen nuclei.
What is Gadolinium?
Imaging of the blood flow within the capillaries.
What is Perfusion?
A record of patient health information generated by one or more encounters in any care delivery setting. Included in this information are patient demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, vital signs, past medical history, immunizations, laboratory data and radiology reports.
What is the Electronic Health Record (EHR)?
The net displacement of molecules across an area of tissue per second.
What is Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC)?
A rapid acquisition technique that begins with a sequence of one or more RF pulses and is followed by a series of gradient echoes.
What is Echo Planar Imaging?
Flow with velocity differences that change erratically across the vessel. Difficulty in imaging this type of flow also relates to phase dispersion within a voxel.
What is Turbulent flow?
A technique used to measure metabolites. The most common application being assessment of brain tumors and other brain disorders.
What is Spectroscopy?
