Why is it important to fill out the Desk Log?
To maintain communication throughout all the desk shifts of events that are happening during the day and notify the SDM of any problems they need to address when they come in for office hours.

I have an emergency and can't make my shift on time! What do I do?
Call the SDM and let them know the situation ASAP. If you cannot reach them, call the Front Desk and let them know.

Housebooks contain confidential information that if seen by non-employees would violate residents' right to privacy that is protected under FERPA.

I am! The shift change is not official until both individuals have signed the log and has been initialed by the SDM or HD.

Contact the SDM (Jeff) with a legitimate excuse for needing to miss the desk shift so that arrangements can be made if you it is excused.

if a resident comes to the desk to move and there is not a move packet for them there, what should I do?
First, ask to see the email confirmation that they are supposed to move that day. Then, consult the Moving Binder for instructions on what to do!

Have them fill out a blank "Student Concern" form and put the filled out form in Jeff's mailbox so he can address it.
