What is Failsoft
FAILSOFT refers to a mode of operation when the trunking controller has gone down (Or, the subscriber radio cannot hear any of the control channels), and the system operates in conventional mode, matching channels to specific, pre-programmed frequencies.
Failsoft mode still utlizes the repeaters, but only channels that have frequencies can be used (usually dispatch channels) can be used, and radio emergency buttons stop working.

Rule of 1/3... What is it? What does it mean?
The RIT Group Supervisor should deploy teams composed of a minimum of three personnel. The teams should be mindful of their assigned task as well as maintaining the Rule of Air Management (ROAM). All personnel will use the Rule of 1/3 during all operations as a minimum (see example).
Example:
Rule of 1/3
o 4500 psi to 3000 psi: entry, locate, and work
o 3000 psi to 1500 psi: exit
o 1500 psi and below: safety margin
