Someone returns an item to you noting it is broken, upon inspection this loan program item has clear physical damage.
Put it on the damaged equipment shelf (In the closet for IC and idk for WTC)
AND log a ticket about it
Get it covered! Talk to coworkers and see if they can pick it up.
How long can clients renew a reservation for?
An additional 7 days, if there are no other reservations preventing the item from being renewed.
This printer isn't working right. Where will I tape the out of order sign?
On the release station, covering the card swipe point.
This fully prevents people from trying to use the printer, whereas signs on the front of the printer may not be noticed.
Recite how you would answer the phone
Hello this is Digital Media Services at the Lakeshore (or Watertower) Campus of Loyola, how can I help you?
(You should mention Digital Media Services (not DMS, most people won't recognize that acronym), and some form of asking what the client needs)
You were walking around doing rounds and found someone's charger abandoned in an outlet.
Take it to lost and found for your location!
For IC- the IC1 desk
For Corboy 608- the Library desk
and in any other building, look for a main central desk to hand it off and report it.
When should your timecard be completed by?
By Sunday at midnight the week timecards are due (biweekly)
What needs to happen to equipment after it is returned?
(In addition to scanning it in of course!) Examin it for damage and missing parts, sanitization in Dr. Zap, reformat memory cards, remove and charge AA and AAA batteries
For the black & white printer toners, what do you need to make sure you do before installing them in the printer?
Shake side to side, and most importantly, remove plastic and paper bits that say to remove them!
A guest, non Loyola student, is asking if they can use a computer, where do you direct them?
For IC, the IC1 desk can give them a log in for the guest alumni workstation.
For WTC, the library desk can do the same.
You changed a toner and now have an empty toner container
If you are running late for a shift, when is the best time to let supervisors know?
AS SOON AS YOU KNOW YOU WILL BE (or might be) LATE.
Not the minute the shift starts, and certainly not after, ideally always let us know before. Which is usually possible unless you sleep into the start time
Under this BLUE tab on a Resource Type's page, you can view a calendar of upcoming reservations and active checkouts.
What is the Availability tab?
You need to do a test print on a printer you were working on. Describe the steps to send a print job to be released with your DMS ID.
Log into a Loyola workstation. Send the print job through the print dialog (CNTRL+P) to GUESTB&W or GUESTCOLOR as needed. Then a window will pop up asking for your ID. Enter "dms" followed by the last three digits on the back of your DMS ID card. Then when you swipe the card at the printer you'll be able to release the job!
If a student needs personal computer help or help getting on the network that's beyond what we can offer where might you direct them?
ITS Service Desk
Tickets can be logged through services.luc.edu or by calling 773.508.4487 or emailing ITSservicedesk@luc.edu.
You changed a poster roll, and now have a big empty cardboard box
Large boxes should be broken down and placed for recycling pickup in the alcove by the RBUX machine on IC1, near men's bathroom.
At WTC they go in the recycling bins
This is the basic essential part of your work dress code requirements. (In addition to clothes being in good repair, closed toed shoes)
This new WCO item is something you might recommend to people checking out a lot of different items that would be hard for one client to carry.
The new collapsible folding wagons from Navatiee!
This webpage is a an important info hub, where I can find printer's with issues to attend to, a resizing calculator, and a print order pricing calculator
What is the rounds page?
If a client situation is escalating and becoming unsafe or uncomfortable what can you do
If it feels needed you can also always call campus safety, F9 and F11 will do this on the workstation.
Get a DMS supervisor if available, an IC/Lewis Library supervisor after hours, we are there for you.
