What is Lock out tag out (LOTO)?
Lockout/Tagout refers to practices and procedures to protect employees from the unexpected startup of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities.
What is the proper procedure when changing LPG tanks?
1. Remove the empty tank from the forklift and place it upside down in the cage.
2. Remove a full tank from the cage and inspect the gauge to make sure its full.
3. Use proper lifting techniques and place the new tank on the rack.
4. Secure the tank onto the rack and install the house by securing the straps.
5. When the tank is secured, turn on the valve and check for any leaks.
What types of freight should you never stack on?
Never stack on top of hazardous materials or sensitive freight.
What are the two types of hazmat training required?
•Security Awareness Training: each hazmat employee must receive training that provides an awareness of security risks associated with hazmat transportation and methods designed to enhance transportation security. This training must also include a component covering how to recognize and respond to possible security threats.
•In-depth security training: each hazmat employee of an employer required to have a security plan…must be trained in the security plan and its implementation. Security training must include company security objectives, organizational security structure, specific security procedures, specific security responsibilities for each employee, and specific actions to be taken by each employee in the event of a security breach.
