How many books can you checkout?
Grades 3-5 can check out up to 3 books.
Can I roll my chair all over the library?
No!
When you are working at the tables it is expected that you are not rolling back and forth. It's distracting to others.
Where do we go when we arrive?
The floor dots or the green chairs. Mrs. Rudd will tell the class at the door when you arrive.
Yes. You will not need to bring it to library but keep it in your backpack and put your books in it when you get back to your classroom.
How will Mrs. Rudd get our attention to quiet down?
Ring the chime once.
What kind of books can I check out?
How do you get the materials for table work?
Mrs. Rudd will pick helpers to pass out the crayons/pencils/scissors, etc.
Everyone else can go await the materials at the tables.
Can we split down both sides of the bookshelves and run to our spots while talking loudly?
No :)
You can walk in quietly and get to your space quickly.
Why do we have plastic library book bags?
Protect the books from water spills, food crumbs, art projects, puppies, etc. It also is a safe spot for it since you know where the books are.
How can I let Mrs. Rudd know I want to ask or answer a question/say something?
Do I need to use a shelf-marker?
Yes!
(Use them when you are taking a book off the shelf to browse.)
Can I sit wherever I want?
No, sorry!
(We have limited time in Library and we can't spend it awaiting people to stop talking.)
Mrs. Rudd will ring the bell two times.
Can I fold the corner of the book to hold my spot?
No, use a bookmark!
What if I want to sign out a book that someone else has?
Where do I go when I am finished checking out my books?
5 students are picked for the lounge.
The rest may go to a comfortable spot, tables, couches, etc. Be responsible with your choice, you will be asked to move if you are being too loud or distracting yourself/others.
When I am done with my work, what do I do?
Tidy your space up first, then most of the time you will go browse for books.
Where do you line up?
Along the picture books row / by the closet.
What happens if I accidentally get the book wet or damage it?
Tell Mrs. Rudd or Mrs. Werner! Don't try to fix it yourself.
What happens if I forget my library books on library day?
Still pick out books during library and give your library card to Mrs. Werner. Then you can read your book until line up time.
Before you leave, we can save them. Bring your other books back the next morning and we can then sign out your new choice books.
No!
There is Open Library every morning from 7:50-8:30, bring your books back when you are done and get more! Other times your teacher may send you during the day as well.
Can I throw out my paper when we are done?
Nope! Take your work with you. It's then up to you and your grownup if you keep it forever or recycle it after they see it!
How should we sound before our teacher arrives?
Your teacher should not hear you as they are walking down the hallway. It isn't talk time in line.
What happens if my book is overdue or I lose it?
If it's missing, take some more time to look for it at home.
Sometimes we have to ask your grownups to pay money to replace the book if it's damaged or definitely lost.
If I finish my book before library, can I give it to my friend to read?
Please don't do that, bring it back for us to check it back in. If they lose it or damage it, it will still be signed out to YOU and you may have to pay to replace the book.
