What is a simile?
The main character in the story.
What is the protagonist?
In a horror movie, the killer is behind the door, and the audience is yelling "NOOOO don't open the door" at the teen girl.
What is dramatic irony?
The protagonist fights against the antagonist.
What is character vs. character?
We meet the characters, establish the setting, the conflict is introduced.
What is exposition?
The car screeched to a stop.
What is onomatopoeia?
Character vs. character, character vs. society, and character vs. nature are considered this type of conflict.
What is external conflict?
When the Dad does all of the housework, cooking and childcare in a household.
What situational irony?
A person is trying to overthrow the government.
What is character vs. society?
The turning point of the story. This is the high point of the story when the character has to make a choice.
What is the climax?
I have ironed this dress a million times, and it is still wrinkled.
What is hyperbole?
The character who works against the protagonist.
What is an antagonist?
When the class has talked and played the whole class period, and the teacher says, "Great job with the lesson today" and rolls her eyes.
What is verbal irony?
A person is considering giving up on their dream.

When the action is winding down after the climax or turning point
What is falling action?
That freshman beating that senior would be a real David and Goliath story.
What is an allusion?
Give the two parts of setting
When it's raining and cold outside, and Sharon comes in saying, "nice day."
