List 5 benefits of studying Seerah

Benefits of Seerah:

  1. It is one of the commandments in the Quran in over 50 ayat. “Obey Allah (SWT) and obey the messenger (SAW).” Messengers were sent so they can be as living examples for us. Angels were not sent because we are not like them. Humans were sent so we can relate to them and follow them.

  2. Increases our love for the Prophet (SAW). Why should we increase our love for him? This is because we have to live the way he lived and we want Allah (SWT) to love us. Ex. If there is a favorite child of the house, you would try to be like that child so that you can loved more as well. “If you love Allah (SWT), then follow me. Then, Allah (SWT) will love you.”

  3. It gives us a sense of direction during difficulties. You can look back to how the Prophet (SAW) reacted during specific times. In any angle, you can find things that will benefit you.

  4. Helps us understand the Quran. The whole context of many ayat relie in the seerah.

  5. Seerah is a miracle. If we didn’t have anything else, his life would be enough for us to believe in him.

  6. Studying Seerah helps us to defend the honor of the Prophet (SAW). From the life until now, people still speak bad about him.

Who was Qahtan and Adnan?

Qahtan: Father of the Arabs. He had a son named Ya’rab (where the word comes from). Some say that he started Arabic but this is far-fetched since a language cannot come from one person. The most accepted opinion is that he came from Nuh (A). Nuh (A) had 3 sons. Some say that one of his sons was the father of the Africans, the other is the father of the Asians, and Saam was of the Arabs. One of the sons of Nuh (A) was Saam. Qahtan was the descendant of Saam. Sammc is considered as the father of the Saamites. Another opinion is that he was the descendant of Ibrahim (A). Another opinion is that Qahtan and Ya’rab are from Hud (A). They lived in South Arabia. Aws and Khazraj are two tribes in Madinah.
