These were the two original terms used to describe what we now know as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). They were not inclusive, so they are no longer used.
What is 'wife abuse' and 'spouse abuse'?

This is the full name of the welfare reform act passed in 1996 that cut funding to needy families and increased qualification criteria.
