It works in us humility because we know it is not our own strength and power that gives as the good that we receive. It encourages us in difficulty because we know that nothing can remove us from His love and that the trials He sends are there to draw us closer to Him.

Indian Joe is an evil man who Tom witnesses committing murder. He ends up dying because he hid treasure in a cave and when he went back to get in he ended up trapped inside because the town had blocked off the entrance of the cave after Tom and Becky had been trapped inside.

Tom matures through experiencing trials in the cave with Becky. Prior to this he was quite self-centred and not appreciate his church and school community. In the cave, he was willing to make sure Becky received most of the food and was willing to sacrifice himself for her. After this experience, he was even encouraging Huck to be civilized and appreciating the community around him.

Examples will vary: Communities give wisdom and encouragement as we face our trials and also redirect us if we are going in the wrong direction.

Why is forgiveness important? Give an example from Little Women.

Forgiveness is important it because without it both others, and we ourselves, are harmed. An example is in Little Women after Amy burns Jo's book. Jo didn't immediately forgive her and lived with resentment in her heart for her sister. This led to Amy plunging into ice cold water. This near death experience finally led back to forgiveness and restoration of a beautiful familial relationship.
