Due to her jealous sisters, Psyche became suspicious that Eros was a monster because of the direful prophecy about her, saying that she would never marry and only a terrible monster would be her mate. So at night when Eros was sleeping she lit an oil lamp and shined it on Eros to check if the prophecy was true. She saw no monster. During the process she accidentally tipped the oil lamp spilling burning hot oil on the god's shoulder. He immediately woke up and flew out. Eros was so offended that she was suspicious of him that he left her, and he said it would be forever, "for love cannot live with suspicion".

Question 1: What three tasks did Psyche have to complete to prove to Aphrodite that she is worthy of Eros?

Question 2: Hermes was sent by Zeus to offer Psyche the ambrosial nectar that would make her one of the immortals. After Psyche drunk the nectar and became an immortal goddess, the Greeks came up with another name for her, what was that name?

Question 1.

1. To prove her diligence and housewifely skills, she had to seperate massive mounds of grains that Aphrodite stored to feed her pigeons.

2. She had to go to a grassy meadow where a flock of sheep with golden fleece lived. Psyche's task was to bring Aphrodite a sample of their precious wool that she gathered from each of the fleece.

3. She had to venture to the underworld and ask Persephone to send Aphrodite a little of her beauty, for in tending to Eros she had lost some of her own. Aphrodite needed it quickly because she must use it before she appears next in the circle of the gods on Mount Olympus. (This task turned out to be a trick.)

(Some versions of this myth have Psyche do another job in between the 2nd and 3rd tasks of this version. Since it's not in this version, I didn't cover it.)

Question 2.
