What is the timeline for an initial evaluation?
Explaining your process for decision with evidence, formal assessment or a blend of these
What are acceptable ways to address areas within the assessment process?
Only the people who did formal evaluations do this

You are allowed 25 school days.
What is the timeline for the referral process?
This is a required service to assist the student to benefit from an SDI
What is a related service?
For what disability category would we assess Communication skills (including pragmatics), social skills and adaptive behaviors
What is Autism/Educational Autism?
Only people who did a formal portion of an evaluation can do this
Who are the people legally allowed to provide a dissenting opinion?
What are back to back evaluation and IEP meetings?
You are allowed to do this only when it is not part of the decision making process for a special education referral and the purpose is to inform on instruction
What is screening? (Make sure that you have written evidence that the parent understands the what, the why and the purpose)
What are acceptable measures for adaptive behavior?
What are the Vineland-3, ABAS?
These are not required, many teams still do them, and maybe should only be used when the school and parents are not on board or in agreement with the recommendation.
What is a referral meeting?
This cannot be refused and anyone who knows the student can do these.
What is making a referral?
This is a service meant to help the student meet the unique needs of the student and ensure them access to the general education curriculum.
What is SDI?
You must provide evidence of a discrepancy, albeit outside of the normal evidence to use this
What is professional judgment?
These should be done at least 24 hours before the meeting and contain all of the content that is not part of the decisions made during the meeting.
What is a draft copy of the evaluation report?
A parent must agree to this in writing and it must be done prior to the 35th school day, and it does not change the three year timeline
What is an extension of an evaluation?
To call something a related service, you must be able to do this
What is name the SDI that it is related to and the why of the relationship?
What are standard deviations below the mean and discrepancy criteria?
You sign this to document agreement, and you sign this to document attendance/participation
