Keep them in a backpack, not a pocket. If the teacher sees them, they may be taken according to school and district policy.
What should students do with a drink in the classroom?
Use a drink with a lid and keep it on the floor so it does not spill on a laptop.

Stay at the assigned seat, continue working or checking directions, and wait to be dismissed.
