What is 90 to 130 mg/dl?
The process of blood glucose regulation
Blood glucose levels are maintained by the digestive system, in particular the pancreas and the liver. The receptors which monitor blood glucose are in the pancreas. When the pancreas detects a rise in blood glucose, it produces the hormone called insulin. Insulin stimulate cells to collect more glucose to use as energy and also prompts the liver to collect and store the glucose by turning it into glycogen. When the blood glucose level drops too low, then the glycogen is converted back into glucose in the liver and sent back into the bloodstream.
