The mushaf did not always have diacritical marks ( إِعْجَام), however they were added so the nonArabs who accepted Islam could recite the Qur’an in the correct manner. Who is credited as the first person to add these diacritical marks? The person who added these diacritical marks did so after he heard an individual recite an ayah in an incorrect manner that changed the meaning. What was this ayah and recite it correctly while pointing out the mistake the man made? (Bonus 200 points for this)
Abu al Aswad Ad Du’ali is credited as the first person to add diacritical marks to the Qur’an. The ayah that the man from basra recited incorrectly changing its meaning was:
أَنَّ اللَّهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ۙ وَرَسُولُهُ
He recited it Rasoolihi instead of Rasooluhu changing the meaning from “that God and His messenger dissolve obligations with the pagans” to “that God dissolves obligations with the pagans and the messenger”

What was the miracle of the first few ayaat of Surat Al Rum. Be specific and mention the story of the Sahabi who placed a bet on the truthfulness of these ayaat. Mention the definition of بضع سنين
The first few ayahs of Surat Al Rum predicted the victory of the Byzantines over the Zoroastrian Persians. These ayaat were revealed at a time when everyone expected the defeat of the Romans. The Persians took Byzantine strongholds of Damascus and Carthage and utterly decimated the Roman army. These ayaat mentioned that in a few years (بضع سنين ) the Romans would be victorious. بضع سنين refers to a very specific time period (anywhere from 3-9 years). Abu Bakr (R) placed a bet of a hundred camels that the Qur’anic prophecy would be true and that the Romans would overcome the Byzantines in 9 years. (At this time gambling had not been prohibited). After the passage of seven years, the Romans made a surprising comeback and the Persians made peace with the Byzantines out of desperation. At this point, gambling had become Haraam, and the Prophet (S) ordered the camels to be donated as sadaqah.
