  • Rachel, Saul’s sister, was abducted at the young age of six. Naomi, Saul’s grandmother, explains how Rachel was taken by a white man or the Zhaunagush. They were assimilated into the European culture and lifestyle.

  • Indigenous children were taught to fear the white. This is a prominent theme in Indian Horse. Indigenous families would hide in bushes and trees to resist the abduction of their children.  Not only do Residential Schools affect the children taken but also the families of those children.
