When do you have to borrow and when do you have to carry over in math?
We borrow in multi-digit number subtraction when we cannot subtract the number in the place value. We borrow from the next place value over and add 10 of the current place value.
We carry over when the addition of two numbers in a place value creates an answer that includes a second digit. That second digit transfers to the next bigger place value.
What are the two basic rounding rules?
5 to 9 goes up to 10, 1 to 4 goes down to zero
We round by looking at the next lowest place value
What is an inference?
An inference is when you make an educated guess based on information learned so far.
