Virginia Beach City Public Schools is committed to the well-being of all students, staff, and their families and has partnered with Care Solace to provide an additional layer of support. Care Solace will navigate the mental health care system on your behalf to find community-based providers and secure appointments as quickly as possible with the best care possible. Our coordination services are paid for by Virginia Beach City Public Schools and are provided to the VBCPS family at no cost.

What are shelf-stable meals and healthy snacks?
The target student audience demographic and grade levels for the Beach Girls Rock empowerment series.
Historically, the program was geared to students in grades 5-12, but the criteria has now allowed for grades 4-12! This gives more of our elementary girls an opportunity to participate! Even if you do not teach these grades, anyone can encourage a student to sign up! They just need to scan the QR Code and complete it with their parent/guardian.
The easy daily habits you can complete directly in the app to steadily stack up points for doing things like learning about stress management or caring for an aging parent.

This program deploys clinicians to VBCPS buildings to provide rapid mental health screenings, assessment, and short-term intervention strategies for students showing acute behavioral needs.
The Child and Youth Behavioral Health Services’ (CYBH) Rapid Response Services provide a rapid behavioral health response to elementary age students in Virginia Beach City Public Schools, who are demonstrating behaviors that may indicate the need for a behavioral health screening, short term intervention, and coordination and referral to ongoing services in the community.

Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health provides acute inpatient care to children and adolescents ages 4-17 experiencing a primary mental health crisis including extreme feelings of suicide or causing harm to themselves or others.

The local public university that has historically opened its local Virginia Beach center to host interactive empowerment events for the program.

The curriculum-based support and direct student workshops available from the counseling team to reinforce positive student behaviors division-wide.

How does a child get referred for these interventions?
Care Solace (school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists), Brief Counseling (administrators and counselors), Rapid Response (admin ONLY), and Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health (legal guardians only).
The specific baseline criteria and timeline rules used by school teams to identify high-priority candidates for the program.
Since we do not have access to free and reduced lunch information, candidates are chosen based off what teachers, staff, counselors, and administrators learn along the way. There is no deadline to refer a child and they can receive a Beach Bag at any time during the year.
What is the updated attendance and travel policy for the Beach Girls Rock series?
In the past, students needed to attend these sessions with their parent and provide their own transportation. But now transportation is provided! The first session was at ODS on Saturday, September 26. Although this has passed, there will be more throughout the year.
