Model
The numerical amount of something.
quantity
The base unit of temperature for the Kelvin scale. One kelvin is the same size as one degree Celsius, but the Kelvin scale starts at the coldest possible temperature whereas the Celsius scale starts at the freezing point for water.
kelvin
A method of writing very small or large numbers using powers of 10.
Example: The number 5,600,000 is written in scientific notation as 5.6 × 106.
scientific notation
system of units that is based on multiples of 10. SI units are also called metric units.
International System of Units
A chart with a horizontal axis (x -axis) and a vertical axis (y -axis) and a grid of lines that extends from each axis. Each axis is numbered to show a range of values for one variable.
graph
A table that shows the number of times a certain outcome or value appears in a set of data.
frequency distribution
A letter or word added to the beginning of another word to create a new meaning. Example: The prefix milli- means "one-thousandth.
