What is genre?
Type of conflict, two opposing sides, example man v. man.
What is external?
Two answers action between the beginning and the turning point, and the action between the turning point and the ending.
What is rising and falling?
Two answers: qualities of a character and why a character does what he or she does.
What is traits and motivation?
The individual telling the story.
What is a narrator?
The main idea the story is about.
What is theme?
Type of conflict, happens in the mind, example: man v. self.
What is internal?
The turning point in the story.
What is the crisis?
Conversations between characters.
What is dialogue?
Point of view where the narrator is a character in the story and refers to himself as I or me.
What is first person?
How we learn about the people in a story, how their personalities are built.
What is characterization?
The main character in a story.
Who is the protagonist?
Two answers: The beginning of the story, which tells the setting and background information, and the ending, where all the loose ends are tied up.
What are the exposition and the resolution?
Two answers: the author's explanation of a charater, listed, and the things a character does.
What is description and action?
Point of view where the narrator stands outside of the story and refers to characters as he or she.
What is third person?
The perspective from which a story is told.
What is point of view?
The opposite (person or organization) of the main character.
Who is the antagonist?
Daily Double: The most emotional part of the story. Where does it fall in the plot line?

Type of characterization where it is stated in the text: description and dialogue.
What is direct?
Type of 3rd person where the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all the characters in a story.
What is omniscient?
The struggle between the main character and an opposing force.

Type of characterization where the reader must infer information about a character: action and dialogue.
