Explain how semaglutide exerts its effects to promote weight loss

By activating glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors in the brain, which leads to increased feelings of fullness and reduced appetite, as well as by slowing gastric emptying and reducing food intake. Increasing insulin when blood sugar is high.

800
A client is week 3 of Tirzepatide treatment and is requesting to go up in dose because they "don't feel anything." What do you say or do?

Tell them that this medication needs time to acclimate in the body, if we bump you up too fast you may experience symptoms or have adverse effects like constipation that could lead to a bowel obstruction. While it's important we see weight loss, uping the dose too quickly isn't always in the clients best interest. ASK KIM before going higher than any standing order.
