Who is Simon and what happens to him?
Simon is a bit different from the boys. He is a bit more antisocial, but kind and helpful. He often goes off on his own. He finds the Lord of the Flies and has a "conversation" with him about the evil in all. Then he finds the real beast and when he goes to tell the others about it, he is mistaken for the beast, beaten, and killed. His body floats out to the sea.

This is showing the boys' descent into savagery and how they are giving into the evil within themselves more and more. Only having a little light such as the moon or a few stars represents the little bit of hope left dying out or disappearing.

The children start out innocent enough. When they crash, they work together to create and maintain a society and make a plan for rescue. They divide up jobs and seem to remain innocent. Then, as time passes, they become more savage and wild and lose their sense of civilization until it results in murder and death. Examples will vary.
