Removing the inside letters (inside of ”O”, “R”, etc.) and excess vinyl.
Weeding
Material that sticks to windows or vehicles and is removable. (Think Wall Lizard too).
Cling
Company must hold liability insurance verified by UASG, audits performed by 3M, and one pay-rolled installer must pass a rigorous, hands on AND written test by 3M to get this certification for the company.
3M Certified Company
Mostly used for complex wraps, conformable around edges, and turns.
Cast Vinyl
Mostly used for flat surfaces and cut vinyl (not conformable).
Calendared Vinyl
Cast, printable wrap film
Arlon SLX+
Calendared vinyl Used for flat surfaces. Think letters, stripes, etc. that do NOT go over complex areas.
3M 40C and Arlon 4600
More high adhesive vinyl for super complex wraps. (Ex. Chevy HHR bumper).
3M 480
Similar to 3M 480, can be used on low energy porous, and textured surfaces.
Arlon 8200
Calendared film that is not printable. It is cut ONLY and for flat surfaces. Think unit numbers, LIC #s, DOT #s, ect.
Oracal 651
Smaller cutter. Think CFA “Driver Does Not Carry Cash” pieces.
Suma
Larger flat bed cutter (cuts vinyls, acrylic, etc.).
Certification like 3M for an individual installer. (___ Master Class).
PDAA Certified
Vinyl is ___ over a channel and then tucked in with a squeegee. This RARELY holds up in a deep channel. Vinyl in channels should be rolled and tucks into the channel.
Bridging Channels
What goes over the graphics after they are weeded. When installing, the installer removes the backer and the letters stick to the this. The installer can then apply to the vehicle followed by squeegeeing the letters to the vehicles and finally removing this, leaving the finished product!
Premask
High resolution artwork that can be used for print.
Vector File
Vinyl with holes in it for vehicle windows (you can see out but not in).
Window Perf
Pantone color to match a logo, art, etc.
PMS #
PDI - Pre Delivery Inspection
Adding 2 inches on the top and 2 inches on the bottom of a panel to give the installer more room to move. If panels are overlapping, we usually use a 1 inch ___.
Vinyl Bleed
