What is visualizing?
Visualizing is when we use the words from the story to create an image or movie in our heads.

When I was in second grade, I moved to a new school like the character Shirley did. I remember feeling like everyone ignored me and missing my home, so I can relate to what she’s going through.

What is a Text-To-World connection?
Text-to-world connections are when we connect the text to something that is happening in the world right now or an event that has happened in the past. Example of a text-to-world connection would be when a reader says, "I saw a program on television that talked about things described in this article."

When trying to make visuals, what words should be focus on in our reading?
Words that appeal to our senses. Usually adjectives or adverbs.

Percy Jackson reminds me a lot of Harry Potter. He was an outcast that didn't really belong in the beginning of the story who found out that he was different and special in some way.

What is a Text-To-Text connection?
When you connect the characters or situations from the book you are reading to another book or other form of media (movie, television show, song, etc.) Example: “This character has the same problem that I read about in a story last year”

It helps us remember important information about the story more easily, it can help us feel more connected to the story, and it makes it easier for us to understand characters and scenes,.

What is a Text-To-Self connection?
Text-to-self connections are highly personal connections that a reader makes between a piece of reading material and the reader’s own experiences or life. An example of a text-to-self connection might be, "This story reminds me of a vacation we took to my grandfather’s farm."

How does someone visualize? List the steps we can take.

What is the different between a "surface" connection and a "deep" connection?
A deep connection helps you understand a character or a scene better while a surface connection is something that you or another might just have in common with the story. Example: How I looked like Hermione would be a surface connection. How I also share her fear of failure would be a deep connection because it helps me understand how Hermione is feeling throughout the story.
