Using number relationships to progressively mathematize numbers into richer and more densely orgranized networks of relations.
Basically, putting together and partitioning numbers and noticing the patterns to support SEAL.
What is Structuring?
Able to identify finger patterns 1-5 and spatial patterns 1-6.
What is Structuring Level 1?
This tool has five squares on top and five squares on the bottom and is often used when combining and partitioning numbers.
The dimension where you use visible tools to support learning, then go to screened, and then bare numbers.
What is distancing the setting?
Using teacher chart topic numbers, where we work on patterns in Structuring with five and ten frames.
What is 3B1 and 3B3?
The skill of counting one beat or tap to one number.
What is temporal sequencing?
Facile with all partitions within ten, ten plus, big doubles, and numbers with two addends crossing the ten.
What is Structuring Level 5?
This tool is often used when working on FNWS and BNWS. It is blue and has flaps.
What is a numeral track?
The dimension where at first solve a problem with basic method.
12-4= counts down to 8
Gradually uses more complex ways to solve.
12-4= take away 2 to get ten and two more left so eight
What is refining strategies?
Two topic levels where we officially begin working with patterns on a bead rack.
What is Structuring Topics 3B11 and 3B12.
Spots on a dice
What are spatial patterns?
Key skill- Able to complete 5 plus and partitions of 5
What is Structuring Level 3
This tool is used in structuring in the teen numbers and has ten white beads and ten red beads.
What is a rekenrek or beadrack.
The dimension where you have one step to the task and then increase to multiple steps.
Ex. CPV- 21 sticks increment one more bundle of ten
then 31 sticks and increment by two more bundles
What is increasing the complexity?
The topic in Structuring that works on temporal sequences.
What is Structuring 2B4?
Taking a number and breaking it up into two sections.
Ex. 6+4 and 9+1
What is partitioning?
Facile in all combinations and partitions within 10.
Does not need to know written subtraction at this time.
Facile with large partitions of ten.
All partitions for 6, 7, 8, and 9 are facile.
What is Structuring at Level 4?
These cards are used in Early Structuring. They are a series of cards with one to five dots on them.
100 point bonus if you can give me the term used when you flash the cards and the students visualize the number on them.
What is Set 1 cards or Spatial Dot Pattern Cards?
Bonus: What is subitizing!
The dimension where you begin with small numbers and build up to larger numbers.
What is extending the range?
The TWO topics which work on small doubles.
This book organizes mathematical instruction by Number Words and Numerals, Structuring, SEAL, and Conceptual Place Value.
What is Learning Framework in Number or Teaching Number?
Facility demonstrated with small doubles and small partitions of ten.
What is Structuring Level 2.
This tool can be used in Early Structuring to show a combination within ten. They can also be used by a student to re present when counting on.
What are fingers?
The dimension where you begin with an additive task and then may build complexity by finding the missing addend, subtrahend, or create a removal task.
What is varying the orientation?
The Structuring Topic that works with five plus.
What is 3B5?
