Where was the Great leap forward and what was it?

In China, when the government wasn't providing for its citizens, citizens started to be interested in comunist rulings. When the new ruler, Mao Ze Dong started ruling, he gained popularity and made a program in 1958 which would have people farm together under government supervision, This was the Great Leap Forward.

In 1989, communist governments were sieged in many places around to world, over 10,000 Chinese students gathered to protest China's government in Beijing's Tianamen Square. For seven weeks they pretested peacefully. However, on June 4, 1989, the Chinese government sent soldiers and tanks into Tianamen Square killing hundred of innocent people.

In WWII, after Japan bombs Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941, and the US declares war on Japan on Dec 8, 1941. After conquring Japan with Island hopping, the US realases atomic bombs on Japan's Hiroshima causing much damage.

What caused the failiure of The Great Leap Forward?

Chinese farmers did not like that the government controlled what they did and because they didn't own the land anymore, they didn't want to work hard. When droughts and floods damaged the crops, it led to disaster. As a result of the food shortage, 200 million people died from 1958 to 1960 in one of the largest famines in history. Other countries offered to help, such as the US, but China denied any offers for help.

Many Chinese lost confidence in Mao's lead. In response to that, Mao created the Cultural Revolution that was meant to stop doubter of the Chinese Communist Party. He had students to quit school and declare war on anyone who opposed communism. THe students were called the Red Guards and attacked and killed for 10 years in China creating chaos.

Other countries helped by urging China to improve its human rights after hearing about the horrific massacre that took place in Tianamen Square. However, as this was unexpected, other countries including the US were helpless to prevent it but they did try to help after the massacre.
