She, General Palmers wife, actually started Colorado Springs first school in 1871.
She named many of the city’s streets after rivers and streams the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad crossed, including Willamette, St. Vrain, and Cache la Poudre. She also named numerous rock formations around Glen Eyrie, the canyon home her husband built for her
